And I’m going to add; what the pivotal number fifty leads you to during your initial startup marketing campaign on your brand-new social media platform. If it’s Instagram (and I hope it is), you’ll ideally buy 50 Instagram likes to go with your first half-dozen or so promotional posts. To my mind, it’s a realistic number, but, again, to my mind, it’s also quite ambitious. I would venture to say that after your first couple of posts you fetched say, five or six like responses, you’d be off to a good start. And keep up with your posting regime, you’ll be rewarded with the positive effects that compound interest brings you.
Yes, I like to equate the buying practice with the effect that compound interest brings you after a period of disciplined savings and/or investments. In this case, you don’t wait longer than six months to a year to start seeing positive returns. And this in an era of generally low interest and inflation rates. The thing is, if you’ve made the correct choice to market your brand, product or service on a social media platform, you’re entering a truly competitive space. Say for example you’re plying a similar trade to me.
You’re working as an online commercial copywriter and editor. But do you realize just how many ‘copywriters’ and copy editors are out there. You’ll notice I placed this profession within inverted commas. Because of the five genuine and qualified copywriters out there (and you may be one of them), there’s at least another 200. And they’re not even worth writing home about. And yet they’re scoring the business. Why not you too? I’m all in. You too if you want the business. Let’s go for it. Show these guys that you’re so much better.
Give yourself maximum exposure but without doing your profession any harm. You go and buy 50 Instagram likes and wait a day. And then see what happens next. The point is, you’re not buying likes per se. What you’re doing is buying yourself maximum exposure. By the time you’ve checked into your platform twenty-four hours later, you may just find you’ve gained an additional four or five likes. You may be thinking. H’mm, but this is such a low number. But on closer inspection, you may just realize that these are genuine likes.
These are potential customers converting into cash in hand down the line. The numbers matter and you can sweep all the wannabees under the carpet by cashing in with, oh, let’s go for a 100 likes this time. And then see what happens next. Another twenty ‘genuine’ likes perhaps? Quite possibly. Like I just said. Of course, if you’re every bit the consummate copy writer and editor you say you are in your Insta profile then your regular posts had better bear this out.
But perhaps you’re still honing your craft? Rest assured there’s nothing persistency and regular practice can’t pull right for you.
